KOTA KINABALU: A viral message supposedly from the National Security Council warning about evening closure of certain business premises amidst the current nationwide restricted movement order to curb Covid-19 is false, the Sabah Information Department told Daily Express.

The message alleges that from tomorrow, petrol stations, 7-11 outlets and eateries will have to close at 7pm, despite the government having announced that eateries can remain open but for takeaways only without limiting their hours of business.

To lend credence to its claim, the fake message appends a genuine link to the National Security Council’s Telegram channel which the public can join for real-time information about the outbreak.

However, when one taps on the link to join the channel, the worrying message is nowhere to be found.

All businesses in five Pahang districts, however, must close from 7pm to 7am daily as an additional measure to curb the Covid-19 outbreak in the state, reports quoted the Pahang Mentri Besar as saying on Wednesday.
