SIBU: About 20 individuals here who attended the religious gathering in at the Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur have not exhibited any symptoms so far for the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) after attending their health checks at the local clinics yesterday.
Sibu Division Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun said they are among some 500 participants from Sarawak who took part in the religious gathering From Feb 27 to March 1 that was attended by an estimated 10,000 people, including foreigners.
“Most of the participants from Sibu who took part in the gathering have been traced and were told to self quarantine for 14 days,” he said when officiating a community health awareness campaign this morning.
A man from Tawau in Sabah who also participated in the gathering was confirmed to be the first Sabahan to test positive for Covid-19 after he was admitted to Tawau Hospital on March 10 after suffering from fever, cough and breathing difficulties.
Teh also appealed to the participants of the religious congregation to come forward for a health screening and to have their temperature checked.
