KOTA KINABALU: Half of Sabah are now Covid-19 red zones with the addition of Beaufort under the category as the state recorded its fifth daily caseload above 400 cases today, latest data showed.

Information from the Ministry of Health (pictured) indicated 13 districts are red zones or areas with 40 or more active cases while 10 others are yellow zones (with one to 39 cases) and three more are green zones (districts without active cases).

Beaufort recorded 10 new cases today, raising its total of active cases to 47 and becoming a red zone for the first time since the pandemic began in Malaysia early this year like Tuaran, Papar, Kota Belud, Tuaran and Ranau, which became a red zone yesterday.

All red zones except Kunak and Ranau registered double-digit cases today but encouragingly, six yellow zones -- Pitas, Kudat, Beluran, Kota Marudu, Kuala Penyu and Sipitang -- had no new cases.

Sabah registered 451 new cases today, more than half the nation’s record-daily tally of 869 cases.
