JOHOR BARU: All masses under the Malacca-Johore Diocese (MJD) have been cancelled after all of its clergy were exposed to a person who tested positive for Covid-19.

According to an announcement on the MJD Facebook page posted on Sunday (July 26), the cancellation of the masses in the two states takes place with immediate effect.

“This is due to the fact that all our MJD clergy have been exposed to the clergyperson from Bukit Tiram on July 15 during our clergy monthly recollective. All masses are to be cancelled until all the contract tracings are completed and until further notice, ” MJD Bishop Bernard Paul said in a statement.

On Sunday, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that two new Covid-19 clusters have been reported in the country, including the Bukit Tiram cluster in Johor.

“The Bukit Tiram cluster recorded two positive cases at a religious centre in Taman Bukit Tiram involving foreigners who work there. As of Saturday, a total of 10 close contacts have been identified and tested, and their results are pending, ” he said in a statement on Sunday.

The other cluster involves a construction company in Kuching.
