KOTA KINABALU: Sekolah Kebangsaan Stella Maris in Tanjung Aru, here, was ordered by the Kota Kinabalu Health Department to be closed for a week from Tuesday due to fears of the H1N1 disease.

The order (pictured, above) was issued under the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act 1988 to the school which has reportedly become the first one to be closed due to fears of the disease.

Parents who have children studying at the school have expressed concern as teachers said the closure was due to H1N1, according to them.

The Sabah Education Department on Monday said 12 primary school children in Sabah had been infected with H1N1 so far.
